On the 28th October 2016 Edwardstown Lodge conducted an Open Lodge of Remembrance. The Lodge was opened at 7:15 p.m. and the usual business was transacted.

Before closing the Lodge the Worshipful Master called on the Grand Master MWBro. Stephen Michalak to make a presentation.  The Grand Master, called RWBro. John Tailby, Grand Superintendent to the East and presented him with the Grand Master's Order of Service for his many years of service to Freemasonry. (Pictured Below).

The Lodge was then closed in due form at 8:00 p.m. Visitors were then invited into the Lodge Room to witness an Open Ceremony of Remembrance. Many family members were welcomed into the Lodge, most of whom had never sat in a Lodge Room before. The Ceremony was conducted with the solemnity it deserved.

The following Brethren read out heartfelt Eulogies for the late Brethren of the Lodge:

  • WBro. John Stribley (for Bro. Peter Russell)
  • WBro. Geoff Moss (for RWBro. Archie Moss)
  • RWBro. Tony Wilson (for WBro. Jim Boundy)
  • WBro. John Newgrain (for RWBro. Maurice Phillips)

The Meeting closed at 9:00 p.m. at which time everyone retired to the Festive Board to honour Masonic Toasts appropriate to the occasion.

The Grand Master, Deputy Grand Master and a retinue of Grand Lodge Officers were received into the Lodge; including three visiting Worshipful Masters; a number of Past Masters; unaccompanied Brethren, including many relatives of  the late Brethren, (about fifty in total).

WBro. John Stribley presented a widow’s pin to Mrs. Phillips (widow of the late RWBro. Maurice Phillips) and explained it's significance.
