On the 8th November 2016 the Grand Lodge Membership Committee held an Open Night in conjunction with St. Andrews Lodge No. 19 where members of the public toured the beautiful Grand Lodge Building and were provided with a general introduction and overview of Freemasonry.

The evening officially commenced at 7:00 p.m. with Membership Committee Chairman, VWBro. Brenton Leitch welcoming twenty four visitors in the Great Hall and introducing the Committee members who acted as Guides for the evening. (Please see Below - for more photographs please click here)

After discussing a short overview of Freemasonry; the history of the Building; and the Agenda for the evening, the Tour began.

The main group broke into four manageable groups and commenced the Tour by rotating between the many salient attractions of the Building namely, the Museum, Stuart Collection, Simpson Room and Library with explanations being given by the Guides and Grand Lodge staff at each area.

All groups came together outside the Glover Room at 8:15 p.m. The Visitors then entered the St. Andrews Lodge No. 19 meeting to witness a Presentation of two 25 Year Pins. After the Presentation everyone retired to the Festive Board where the usual Masonic toasts were made and to share in a light supper. The unexpected highlight of the Festive Board was the Piper playing his bagpipes which led to the group participating in a Scottish-style Polonaise.

A big thank you to St. Andrews Lodge No. 19, VWBro. Brenton Leitch, RWBro. Owen Lever, WBro. Gary Joerin,

VWBro. Alan Price, Bro. Gary Pusey, WBro. David Holliday, VWBro. Keith Jones, WBro. John Rand and Grand Lodge Building staff for making the evening a complete success and giving the Visitors a unique insight and experience into the Fraternity.

The Membership Committee are planning more of these Open Nights in 2017 so keep an eye out on the Grand Lodge Calendar for future events.
